STATCOM STUDY: Voltage stability study

The project,  aimed to address the challenges posed by the growing complexity of interconnected power systems and the increasing integration of renewable, non-synchronous power sources. These developments introduce significant difficulties in maintaining voltage stability and power quality. A sustainable solution to enhance voltage stability is the localized implementation of a STATCOM. By improving grid voltage stability under varying network conditions, STATCOMs can increase the active power transfer capability. However, before deploying a STATCOM, its behavior must be thoroughly analyzed for the specific network conditions at the point of interface. The project's objective was to develop an RT model for the electrical and control systems, structured into hierarchical blocks and time-step configurations, to facilitate this analysis.
